    EPCglobal (www.epcglobalinc.org) will administer and develop EPC standards developed by the MIT Auto-ID Center. The Auto-ID Center officially closed on October 26th, 2003. The Center has completed its work and transferred its technology to EPCglobal. The university labs of the former Auto-ID Center are now referred to as Auto-ID Labs (www.autoidlabs.org). The Auto-ID Center was founded at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999. Its aim from the start was to create a global system for tracking goods using a single numbering system called the Electronic Product Code.

    • Alien Technology™ - has developed, and holds exclusive patent rights to, an manufacturing assembly technology called Fluidic Self Assembly (FSA) that allows for the efficient placement of arbitrarily large numbers of small components across a surface in a single operation. The company plans to first use the technology to distribute pixel drive circuits to make electronic displays, but it will also be applied to other problems, such as antennas, sensors and very low-cost RFID tags.

    • Atmel Semiconductor - Atmel ships about 60M RFID die every year. Primary markets are animal ID and access control. Atmel purchased Temic Semiconductor's RFID division several years ago.

    • ChampionChip offers a system for sports event timing which includes the combination of synchronized multiple antennas, high-tech analog and digital electronics, and dedicated software for live bulk data handling.
    • Checkpoint Systems. Provides security solutions including Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) and Electronic Access Control (EAC) using radio frequency (RF) technology, and POS monitoring, CCTV, and fire/burglar alarm monitoring.
    • CopyTag based in Essex England, is a RFID systems integrator employing a wide variety of RFID products.  Their current web site provides a good guide for successfully implementing RFID systems.

    • Cross Point based in the Netherlands, Cross Point is a manufacturer of RF-EAS and RFID equipment and components used in the security industry.
    • Destron Fearing has been in the animal identification business since 1945.  For over 50 years, Destron Fearing has developed, manufactured and marketed a broad range of individual animal identification products.  A strategic partner, Schering-Plough Animal Health, markets HomeAgain™ in the United States.  The Companion Animal Recovery Database managed by the AKC.
    • Deuteron Acquisition - a RFID systems integrator based in Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada. Specializing in custom software for RFID systems.
    • Diagnostic Instruments Ltd - Based in Livingston, Scotland, DI has designed a fully ruggedised 'RFID platform', capable of integrating a wide range of RFID technologies.
    • Fairchild Semiconductor has been manufacturing the RFID chips since the 1990s, when Fairchild and IBM first co-developed the RFID technology. Fairchild continued to manufacture the chips for Intermec's Intellitag RFID tags since Intermec acquired the IBM technology in December 1997.

    • Gemplus Gemplus Tag was a division of Gemplus, a provider of smart card based solutions.  On October 15, 2001, Gemplus Tag became TAGSYS, an independent RFID company.
    • IB Technology Ltd. Head quartered in Worcestershire, UK, IB Technology designs and manufactures a range of unique and low cost single chip RFID readers for a number of the most popular read/write and read-only 125 kHz RF transponders.
    • IDTechEx is a consultancy company, based in Cambridge, UK, which specialises in market and technical intelligence in low cost RFID, smart cards and laminar electronics.
    • GSC Systems is a private company located in Cape Town, South Africa, specializing in access control, time recording and RFID identification systems.  Their RFID products consist primarily of Proximity Access Control Systems.
    • HOTRACO MicroID BV is an independent Company that develops, produces and markets all components for RF/ID for animals..
    • i-Ray is a new RFID supplier that develops wireless location and positioning technologies.
    • IDENTEC Solutions was established to develop Intelligent Long Range (ILR) technology targeted initially at the reusable pallet and container (RPC) market. They offer RFID tags and readers operating in the 915 or 868 MHz ISM band.
    • Idesco Idesco Oy is a Finnish hi-tech company, that develops, manufactures and markets RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) readers, reader modules, tags and cards. Idesco was founded in 1989 and is "... one of the oldest RFID companies in Europe. The first Read/Write (R/W) RFID applications have been delivered in the year 1991 using Idesco technology."
      IDmicro IDmicro LLC specializes in the integration of 'Smart Chips' for use in business automation for air, bus, truck, rail, toll and retailing.
    • id Systems - Manchester, UK. id Systems designs and manufactures a wide range of RFID products, for low (125/134 kHz) and high (13.56 MHz) frequency tags and smart labels available from leading vendors.
    • Impinj - Rewritable EPC Class 0 ProductsRFID chip manufacturer. offices in Seattle, Washington and Orange County, California.
    • Infineon Technologies AG - On April 1st, 1999, Siemens Semiconductors became Infineon Technologies AG, Munich, Germany. Infineon offers semiconductor and system solutions for applications in the wired and wireless communications markets, for security systems and smartcards, for the automotive and industrial sectors, as well as memory products. RFID products include two chips in the Identsystem IC family to address specific market requirements; a “plain” memory mode (my-d 10P), and an enhanced security “crypto” mode (my-d 10S) with access to memory sectors controlled by up to 14 keys for protected sectors. my-d IC is a 13.56 MHz RF device with a unique ID code and up to 10 Kilobit of secure, writable memory that can be divided into multiple sectors for different users, including sectors protected by cryptographic keys.
    • INKODE - Produces non-silicon, passive, read only, microwave band RFID products
    • Intersoft - Provides solutions with easy to use and inexpensive identification devices for the small and medium size company.  Intersoft has been designing and manufacturing identification and control hardware/firmware since 1991.   Developed a passive LF RFID tag and reader manufactured here in Tennessee.
    • Integrated Product Intelligence Limited (IPI) - IPI is a UK based independent consulting company in the field of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).  As a member of the UK's BSI IST34 committee, IPI contributes to the international ISO SC31 standards committee on tagging.
    • Keri Systems - A San Jose, CA USA based supplier of access control systems products. OEM supplier of proximity cards, tags, and proximity readers with optional HID compatibility.
    • Marconi - Supplies RFID tags designed to be attached to metal, glass, wood, plastic or cardboard.
    • Matrics - A relatively new RFID company based in Columbia, Maryland. Matrics provides 902-928 MHz. RFID systems comprised of silicon-based RFID tags, reader electronics, and system management software.
    • Mountain View Systems - Mountain View Systems in Decatur, GA USA is an RFID Systems Integrator. MVS uses off-the-shelf RFID hardware to create cost-effective inventory and supply chain management efficiencies.
    • Nedap A Netherlands based company founded in 1929.  Nedap has 25 years experience in applications involving RF/EAS and RF/ID such as access control, cattle management, and logistics.
