EPCglobal (www.epcglobalinc.org)
will administer and develop EPC standards developed by the MIT Auto-ID
Center. The Auto-ID Center officially closed on October 26th, 2003.
The Center has completed its work and transferred its technology to
EPCglobal. The university labs of the former Auto-ID Center are now
referred to as Auto-ID Labs (www.autoidlabs.org).
The Auto-ID Center was founded at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
in 1999. Its aim from the start was to create a global system for
tracking goods using a single numbering system called the Electronic
Product Code.

- On April 1st, 1999, Siemens Semiconductors became Infineon Technologies
